This role is a Board position within the INEOS Pigments Group business, and the incumbent is also a member of the Pigments Group Exco. The position provides leadership for safe operations and manufacturing excellence at the three manufacturing locations in Ashtabula, Ohio and Tyssedal, Norway.
Accountability 1: Functional Management
Functional management of Operations, Maintenance, Technology, Engineering, CAPEX, SHE, Projects, Product Stewardship, and Crisis Management.
Most important activities:
- Setting direction and ensuring business value delivery from the functional area (meet needs while minimizing cost).
- Safe, legally compliant, and reliable operation of the three Pigments Group sites.
- Cost control and cost leadership (focus on driving out costs).
- Leading Pigments Group Technology to align business strategy with technology capability and deployment.
- CAPEX 5-year plan development and management for entire business, ensuring projects are executed with Capital Efficiency.
Accountability 2: Member of the INEOS Pigments Board
Most important activities:
- Ensure business is operated in complete legal compliance and in accordance with ethical business standards.
- Leverage expertise/scale of functions and Manufacturing to maximize business profitability.
- Management of business performance, and intervention/leadership as needed to drive business results.
- Through deep business knowledge and cross functional working relationships contribute to the development and promotion of business strategy, growth opportunities and plans.
- Assist in developing the most effective and capable to deliver business strategy and performance consistent with above organisation
Accountability 3: Drive Behaviour and Process Safety Excellence
Champion for the 20 principles of process and behavioural safety, the INEOS Group Guidance Notes (IGGNs) and life-saving rules.
Most important activities:
- Ensure each site adheres to the INEOS 20 safety principles (20P) consisting of 10 behavioural safety principles and 10 process safety principles. Where gaps exist, ensure there are concrete plans to close those gaps.
- Ensure each site completes the 10P external audits on a 3-year cycle.
- Monitor the gaps identified from those 10P audits and support sites to close those gaps.
- Participate in the weekly Pigments Group SHE Call to encourage good discussions around the shared learnings.INEOSEnsure any shared learnings from sites and other businesses and industry are shared on a timely basis.
- Within each site Performance Contract ensure SHE targets are established to drive continuous improvement in site safety.
- Provide oversight to the established Pigments Group Safety policies to assure adherence.
Accountability 4: Leadership
Ensure that the Pigments Group remains a cost leader in the Pigments industry sector while protecting business critical skill sets in technology leadership and manufacturing expertise.

- Actively manage headcount for improved productivity across the business as a whole
- Manage and retain talent, skills, capabilities needed to maintain Pigments Group leadership position in this industry.
- Actively manage succession issues on critical roles and capabilities within the Pigments Group to ensure that the organization maintains its technical superiority.
- Foster a work environment that maximizes individual and team performance.
- Develop and maintain KPIs to monitor performance and progress against agreed plans.
- Identify and coach high potential leaders for future opportunities within INEOS.
- Lead by example; model senses of urgency, ownership, and discipline in executing/following-up.
Level of education & Experience in general
- Bachelor of Science, Engineering or related field.
- 15+ years in the Chemical Manufacturing Industry, encompassing a broad set of experiences including several of the following functional areas: SHE, Operations, Maintenance, Project Management, Technology, Procurement, Logistics, Business Management.
- Applied engineering and manufacturing management skills, including process optimization, troubleshooting, engineering design, and project management/execution.
- Budgeting and cost control
- Economic analysis in support of portfolio decisions and project selection.
- SHE leadership, including deep understanding of Process SAfety Management )OSHA 1910 and COMHA) protocol and execution.
Behavioural skills
- Position requires strong leadership and delegation skills due to wide span of control, broad geographic parameters and breadth of required technical knowledge.
