About the Role 

The I&E Reliability Specialist provides support to ensure correct diagnosis of Complex instrument and electrical issues, develops solutions to rectify identified problems and actively drives equipment reliability and performance improvements.  They proactively monitor plant assets, troubleshooting equipment, working with Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering personnel to develop equipment repair plans to ensure safe, permit compliant, efficient and effective operations.   

 

  • Plan and coordinate and perform predictive maintenance - such as IR Thermography, Transformer Oil Analysis, Partial Discharge Analysis and Power Quality Analysis.
  • Assist in Identifying and resolving chronic electrical asset concerns (bad actors). 
  • Conduct root cause analysis of instrument and electrical equipment failures. Design solutions to equipment failures ensuring future reliability
  • Assess equipment performance data and ensure optimal and efficient performance.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance plans for I&E equipment 
  • Establish and share instrumentation and electrical best practices and assist in driving the continuous improvement and reliability within the I&E group
  • Review and manage the implementation of instrument and electrical related Requests For Change (RFCs) 
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance plans for instrument and electrical equipment 
  • Develop and modify repair specifications for in-house and contract repair service; this includes auditing of contract services to ensure effective repair within specifications  
  • Oversees departmental documentation as it relates to PSM, ISO, SCE/SCV, Volumetric Control, Electrical Safety Audits, etc. 
  • Provide maintenance department weekend duty and off hours coverage 
  • Create, review and update departmental policies and procedures 
  • Assist in daily maintenance troubleshooting
  • Support ongoing organizational development needs by sharing knowledge, coaching and mentoring others, provide assistance with technical training and by supporting auditing efforts 
  • Electrical drawing updates - review and approval
  • Help define required spare parts for equipment
  • Obsolescence reviews
  • Provide start-up technical support
  • Other duties as assigned


About You
 
You should possess:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; advanced education in electrical and instrumentation is preferred
  • Electrical or Instrumentation Journeyman’s certification is desired
  • Possess a minimum of ten (10) years experience in electrical infrastructure and equipment, process instrumentation and controls in a manufacturing environment, preferably a chemical plant.
  • Strong engineering skills with a thorough knowledge of process analyzers, instrumentation and controls engineering, including distributed control systems and programmable logic controllers
  • Proven knowledge of, and experience with high and medium voltage power supply systems and electric motors.
  • Experience with PLC's and DCS programming, including safety interlock, emergency shut-down, and permissive start-up systems is a plus
  • Detailed knowledge of instrumentation standards as applied in petrochemical industry and knowledge of various electrical Codes (e.g. NEC and ANSI / IEEE)
  • Complete understanding of the engineering documents associated with process instrumentation and controls such as: P&IDs, instrument specification sheets, loop diagrams, logic diagrams, installation detail drawings etc,
  • Good understanding of the engineering documents associated electrical power supply and distribution such as: Electrical component specification sheets, one-line diagrams etc
  • Be able to use analytical processes (appraise a situation, develop supporting plans, make decisions, generate innovative ideas, analyze and troubleshoot instrument and electrical issues) 
  • Functionality with various computer programs, specifically Microsoft Office Suite and SAP
  • Six Sigma training a plus


Schedule/Hours 
This is a salaried exempt day shift position.  Normal work hours are from 0700 - 1530 with on-call responsibilities 24 hours per day.
